Ai Weiwei The China Bag ‘Cats and Dogs’ Edition of 2,500
Papercutting is a traditional Chinese art going back 2,000 years. The colored, intricately cut papers are used as a story-telling medium in festivities, for prayers, and as everyday decoration. The red bag takes its motif from a papercut created by Ai Weiwei as part of his Papercut Portfolio, published by TASCHEN in 2019: Cats and Dogs, his reflection on works from the 1990s, when he returned to Beijing from New York and found his artistic identity.

Annie Leibovitz Sumo editie Keith Haring

Anton Corbijn Depeche Mode, Reuel Golden Collector’s Edition
In 1981, Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn first met Depeche Mode in London when he shot them for an NME cover; in the foreground the smirking, blurred singer Dave Gahan, the rest of the band standing behind him smiling in sharp focus. According to Corbijn, the band were, at the time, “too poppy” for his taste. Fast forward five years and Depeche Mode were transforming their sound and look, with Corbijn now serving as the band’s creative director. Since 1986, he has crafted all of their visuals including photography, videos, and set designs.

Helmut Newton Baby Sumo Taschen
Helmut Newton (1920–2004) always showed a healthy disdain for the easy or predictable, so it’s no surprise that the SUMO was an irresistible project. The idea of a book the size of a private exhibition, with spectacular images reproduced to state-of-the-art origination and printing standards, emerged from an experimental dialogue between photographer and publisher. With the SUMO weighing in—boxed and shrink-wrapped—at 35.4 kg (just under 80 pounds), Newton created a landmark book that stood head and shoulders above anything previously attempted, both in terms of conceptual extravagance and technical specifications.

Neil Leifer Boxing – 60 Years of Fights and Fighters
Neil Leifer took his first important boxing photo from a five-dollar seat at Yankee Stadium. The year was 1959 and Leifer, aged 16, captured Floyd Patterson versus Ingemar Johansson in the ring in the center of the stadium, dramatically floodlit and surrounded by mesmerized crowds. The picture was granular, shot from a distance with a $ 75 Yashica-Mat, “a poor man’s Rolleiflex,” but it had the unmistakable Leifer touch—powerful, nuanced, and adept at finding openings others would never see.

Paul , Collector’s Edition (No. 101–700) Taschen
A personal portrait of Paul McCartney by Harry Benson
Harry Benson began photographing the young Paul McCartney in 1964, a pivotal year for the Beatles when they took America by storm, toured the world, and made their movie debut with A Hard Day’s Night—all documented by the affable Scotsman. And when the Fab Four called it quits, it was Benson who was afforded intimate access to Paul and wife Linda, as Paul forged a new path creatively and personally.
Through Benson’s lens, Paul traces the evolution of its namesake as an icon, performer, and a devoted family man. We follow the musician at the height of his fame with the Beatles; in the recording studio with Linda and their band, Wings; with the family; behind the scenes and on stage during the 1975–76 “Wings Over America” tour; dancing the night away at a star-studded party on the Queen Mary to celebrate the band’s newest album; and with Linda on the couple’s farm in the U.K. in the early 1990s—a fittingly soft landing after so many years of flying high.
Featuring more than 100 color and black-and-white images by the legendary photojournalist, many never seen before, this collection is a window onto a one-of-a-kind artist, one who has remained somewhat enigmatic despite nearly a lifetime of being in the limelight.

The Book of Marble, Jan Christiaan Sepp Taschen
An exhaustive compendium of marble, Afbeelding der Marmor Soorten (A Representation of Marble Types) depicted 570 samples across 100 colour plates, accompanied by texts in five languages. Published in 1776 at the peak of the Enlightenment, it is regarded, rightly, as one of the finest illustrated scientific books of the era.
Over the course of the 18th century, beautiful books that categorised, annotated, and illuminated the Enlightenment pursuit of learning across Europe had become increasingly popular. Knowledge was everything and everywhere, and these books provided it for those not wealthy enough to build their own personal collections of rare and exotic objects. Marmor Soorten, one such edition, took the standards of both aesthetics and categorisation to a whole new level.
Jan Christiaan Sepp and his father Christian – himself a respected collector – had already earned a reputation for luxury publications on scientific themes, starting with Christian’s own Nederlandsche Insecten (Insects of the Netherlands). But it was his son who created the visual masterpiece Marmor Soorten, revising an existing German publication from 1775 by Adam Ludwig Wirsing. The result – published in 11 instalments to a print run of around 100 – was among the finest examples of its kind.
Featuring new photography to depict the intricate details of the marble samples, this edition brings an unknown treasure back to relevance. The plates, each meticulously hand-coloured and arranged with painstaking precision, have an abstract-art feel that gives this volume an almost modern slant.
This edition reproduces the pages from two copies of Marmor Soorten held at the State and University Library in Dresden and the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. Reprinting the work in full for the first time, The Book of Marble brings that rare blend of beauty and encyclopedic knowledge to a wider audience.

The Garden at Eichstätt, Besler Taschen
A magnificent pictorial document of the flowers grown in the greatest German garden of its time, the Hortus Eystettensis is in a class of its own when it comes to both the variety and the range of flowers engraved.
First published in 1613, the 367 copperplate engravings by Basilius Besler (1561–1629)capture the spectacular diversity of the palatial gardens of Prince-Bishop Johann Konrad von Gemmingen (1593/95–1612) in Eichstätt, Bavaria, Germany. The meticulous illustrations are organized according to the four seasons, and, following the classification system used today, show plants belonging to a total of 90 families and covering 340 genera. The whole collection is regarded as one of the finest treasures of botanical literature, described by Carl Linnaeus, the legendary 18th-century botanist and zoologist, as an “incomparable work.”
Besler’s pictorial catalog long outlived the gardens, which were destroyed in 1634 by invading Swedish troops. In auction, the asking price for a first-edition copy of Hortus Eystettensis is now more than half a million dollars. With this XXL-sized facsimile, based on the copy held by the University Library of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, TASCHEN opens up the garden to a much wider audience. Pairing the beautiful illustrations with descriptions of each plate’s botanical, pharmaceutical, and symbolic significance, as well as an introduction which puts the Hortus Eystettensis in its cultural and historical context, this is a rich and beautiful record, destined to keep the garden’s beauty in bloom.
